EverSewn at QuiltCon 2022

As the EverSewn team entered the empty, bland space of the Phoenix Convention Center, we could not imagine how, in just a few short hours, the space would be transformed into a joyous, colorful celebration of the art of sewing. This was the first in-person QuiltCon since before the pandemic and while the virtual events held over the last few years have been great, there’s nothing like seeing the joy on quilters’ faces when they actually stand in front of the modern masterpieces in the show and then wander the booths to find new tools and gadgets (and maybe even a new sewing machine?) for their next project.

The EverSewn team was thrilled to have a presence at the show to support our dealers by increasing brand awareness and education with a booth and 2 classrooms of sewing machines. Approximately 400 students had the opportunity to sew on EverSewn Sparrow 25s and Sparrow QEs in their classrooms. Meanwhile, on the show floor, the EverSewn booth was humming with activity as people tried out our machines and made blocks for Mercy Health NICU charity quilts. Our team loved the opportunity to talk directly to the consumer and educate them on the wonderful features of the EverSewn machines and notions.

Much of our audience may be asking, what is QuiltCon? And what’s the big deal with attending in-person events like this (and do I have to be an experienced quilter to go??)?

What is QuiltCon?

QuiltCon is the largest modern quilting show of its kind and is an annual event held by The Modern Quilt Guild. The show boasts hundreds of gorgeous quilts on display, a vendor show, and a whole long weekend full of classes aimed at every level of sewist. If modern quilting is your jam, attending at least one QuiltCon should be on your bucket list!

Why was EverSewn at QuiltCon?

The EverSewn team was thrilled to be part of QuiltCon 2022! Not only were we able to fill two classrooms with EverSewn machines, but we were also able to interact with hundreds of people and introduce them to the EverSewn brand. Watching sewists sit down at our machines to sew a block for our charity quilts, only to have their eyes open wide when they feel how smooth and sturdy our machines are was a very rewarding experience!

EverSewn is focused on beginner and intermediate sewists. We’re passionate about creating products that are reliable and intuitive so that those at the beginning of their sewing journey have a positive start to their sewing experience. Because our machines are so beginner-friendly, they are very popular with sewing teachers. We were so excited to talk to those was wanting to start teaching and to those who have been teaching for years about implementing EverSewn machines in their classrooms. Putting EverSewn machines and education in front of sewists who may have never heard of the brand or sewists who were only vaguely familiar with EverSewn was a fulfilling experience that we can’t wait to do again!

Do you have to be an experienced sewist to go to events like QuiltCon?

In short, no! Events like QuiltCon are incredible experiences for people at any point in their sewing journey. Vendors and retailers are at shows like this in full force, ready to educate sewists on any level about their products. This is a fantastic opportunity to have face time with multiple shops and vendors to learn about what products fit your sewing style and space.

The inspiration alone is a reason to check out in-person events like QuiltCon. A person can’t help but feel awed and inspired by the incredible work of the artists who create the quilts that gain entry into shows of this caliber. The quilts are truly works of art.

Classes, oh the classes! Shows attract teachers from around the world. The chance to sit down in a physical classroom full of sewing machines and be taught by a world-renowned instructor is priceless. There are classes for every level of sewists at most shows, so look over the class schedule and register for classes at or just above your level of sewing skill. Make sure you get on the mailing list for larger shows like QuiltCon so that you can register for classes early as they typically fill up quickly!

Quilt shows like QuiltCon are truly social events. We could not possibly count the number of conversations struck up between show attendees at the EverSewn booth. You never know - you just might meet your new sewing bestie!
